Taking the Time – Making Your Workout Get it Done

Male modeling is a competitive industry, and male models have to constantly struggle to keep their bodies in peak physical condition for photo shoots. Unlike runway models, male fitness models depend on their faces and their muscles to keep their job, and it’s easy to slip into a routine once a few modeling jobs have been landed or a modeling agency picks up your contract. Before you know it, those washboard abs can look more like a flat-front washing machine, and all that definition you worked so hard for through body building can start to slip away. Here are a few tips for keeping your body a perfect visual sensation for more modeling gigs and photo sessions.

Don't Stress
Athletes have peak periods and valley periods during their muscle training cycles, and so will male models. It's normal to put on or lose a few pounds, or slip out of "perfect form" every so often. Even the Greek god like bodies of male models needs rest, and so long as you can be ready and fit for your modeling job, that’s all that matters. Stressing too about periods in which muscle development isn't maximal will make gaining muscle and getting toned that much more difficult - being ready for the photo shoot is all that really matters.

Find a Full-Body Plan
Everyone will tell you that male models need great abs, and guess what – they're absolutely right. When you're starting out, many modeling agencies will ask you to send pictures of your ripped abs, and you need a plan for your abs in order to stack up against other fitness models. But having great abs alone won't get you modeling jobs – you need total body building in order to perform at your maximum. This means finding a work out plan not only for your biceps, triceps, pecs and abs, but also for your quads, calves and hammies. Cardio is also vital for fitness models; your body needs to be ripped, not looking like it’s going to rip itself in two!

There is no perfect workout plan that will guarantee you modeling jobs and gigs. Instead, it’s up to you to do the best workout you can, know what your body is capable of, and then present that to modeling agencies. When combined with a great workout program, hard work can produce a fantastic body; that is the key to open the door into male modeling.
